Attitudinal

At Resource Futures, we understand the importance of attitude in determining behaviour and how attitudinal knowledge is a key factor in designing and delivering effective products and services.

Application to waste management

Accurate attitudinal research is vital to delivering effective waste management strategies and can provide insights in the following areas:

  • defining, understanding and targeting specific groups with regard to their attitude towards recycling
  • understanding the failure and/or success of waste management infrastructure
  • assisting the development and delivery of effective waste services and campaigns
  • providing the foundation for dialogue with residents and providing valuable feedback.

How we can help you

We regularly design and undertake attitudinal research projects for local authorities and community groups to assess and understand the beliefs, values and attitudes of their populations with regard to waste and recycling.

We also carry out attitudinal research projects specifically designed to integrate with other research methods.

Wide range of methodologies

To achieve a broad picture, get past reported behaviour and provide accurate results, we regularly integrate a broad range of methodologies in our attitudinal research, such as:

  • telephone interviews
  • on-street surveys
  • face-to-face interviews
  • focus groups
  • analysis and interpretation of desk research
  • cross referencing with “hard” data such as tonnage, contamination and participation figures
  • door-to-door canvassing of opinion
  • monitoring of existing behaviour and any changes as a result of local campaigns.

Analysis, conclusions and reports

Once research is complete our research consultants undertake full data verification and oversee collation and input. They then analyse, cross reference, interpret and present the findings and conclusions into a full report, including recommendations for alterations and improvements for the future. Our consultants can also be called upon to undertake presentations to key audiences if required.

Up-to-date technology

At Resource Futures, we employ the latest hand-held data collection technology to ensure accurate data entry and client-ready data.

Local focus

We believe in the value of providing local employment and using local knowledge so we do not necessarily have central data collection teams, moving from place to place as work arises. Instead, we recruit, train and run our data collection teams locally, providing a local co-ordinator (wherever possible) or work with local data collection agencies, to be the linchpin between the data collection teams, ourselves and our clients and project partners.
